Josh Rivedal uses the art of storytelling to talk about the important topics of mental health & suicide prevention.
A program for college, high school and middle school students that combines Live Theatre and Suicide Prevention.
This is a 60-90 minute, 3 component program: 1) Theatre – a fifteen character, seven song one-man Broadway-style play Kicking My Blue Genes in the Butt that is both comedic and poignant and discusses Josh Rivedal’s grandfather’s and father’s tragic suicides. It’s a primal piece of live-storytelling that creates an emotional connection between students and the powerful message that suicide is preventable. 2) An educational session where Josh discusses signs and symptoms of depression and suicide, teaches how to help oneself or a friend if depressed or suicidal, explores how to live mentally well, and reviews resources of help for students. 3) A Q&A session between Josh, a school counselor, and the student audience.
